Financial Literacy For Young People
Money Smarts 4 Kids is committed to raising the awareness of financial literacy among young people.
We offer financial literacy programs facilitated by a creative wealth coach using accelerated learning techniques and programs that are filled with fun, activities and games. Guest speakers, specialists in their fields are also invited during our programs so that information is always relevant, up to date and on topic.
One of the guiding principles of Money Smarts 4 Kids is the old Chinese proverb:
“Tell me and I'll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I'll understand.”
Money Smarts 4 Kids came about when Richard Rainford its founder, a financial accountant, came to the realization that kids need to learn the value of money at an early stage in life and that very little was being done to provide the information for kids and teens to develop the right financial habits.
PROGRAMS
Our centrepiece programs are offered in partnership with Financial Intelligence Inc., and are chosen for their high fun component, while maintaining the ability to teach important financial concepts.
Typically, programs are offered in a camp-like format running from 9:00 am- 3:30 pm Monday through Friday, with several breaks in between including a lunch-break. This format lends itself to be offered at March Break, or as a Summer Camp.
Because the programs are modular, they can be customized in a variety of length and duration, and can be offered anytime throughout the year: during, after school and on week-ends.
All courses are taught by a fully licensed educator and assistants.
The following is a description of two programs that we are currently offering. More will be added in future.
